Reading time: 4 minutes (Symbolic meaning and rituals)
Chaitra Navratra are starting from 2nd April till 10th April.
These are specific auspicious days to invoke Shakti in us.
Sometimes we get exhausted while walking on our life path. We feel we are giving so much that there is nothing more left to give or do. Our prana shrinks and we become dim in our life.
Navratra are the days to expand our prana with mental and physical discipline.
Religion Speaks Symbolic Language
The whole religion speaks symbolic language. Deepest messages are given in the form of images and shlokas. We need to decode them.
During Navratra we worship feminine form of God as Devi with lot of grandeur and splendour. She is looks like an epitome of abundance. She is with eight arms and
with weapons killing a Demon called Mahishasur.
Is it only this much as we are seeing in the image, or some deep message is given to us.
The Message of Navratra
Physical world is dual. We have high energies and low energies simultaneously working on us. Both Devta and demon all are in us till the time we are in this physical body. These are in the form of Navrasas or different emotions. Our mind is designed like this. Our hormones are very much responsible for this.
Now whatever we will feed we will get that swaroop. Now the question is how to get devta swaroop so we are peaceful and powerful.
Self is depicted by Devi and ego is depicted by Mahishasur. All the weapons and lion are the powers of Self. So how can we come in DEVI Swaroop.
Ego creates lot of pain, problems, down falls, separations and misery. It is focused outside and suppresses Self.
A Powerful Self can overcome ego, so we need to make Self powerful. This Powerful Self is invoking Shakti. Powerful Self is possible by going inside and then navigating outside.
What do you think? Is Devi a symbol of abundance or lack?
See the grandeur of Devi.
She is all abundance there is no lack there
Then from where we got the impression that being in lack is spiritual.
Spirituality is abundance.
Ego is lack.
Ego has to show to others so in order to get the attention.
Open Your Channels to Receive Artha (Money)
We need to open our receiving channels and nourish ourself with abundance.
Earn good amount of artha (money). It is a siddhi. It is Mahalakshmi.
We need to leave greed/ lobha not artha / money. Ego goes in greed. Self goes only in artha.
Nourish yourself physically and mentally
How beautiful we feel being healthy physically and mentally.
Nurture yourself with all fruits and vegetables which our mother nature has provided us.
Healthy mind and body is another siddhi.
Not taking care of the body and thinking that this is making us more spiritual is only ego. I have seen so many seekers suffering or dyeing in lack due to this unawareness.
Feel Good About Your Body
Decorating our body is such feel-good feeling. This is our temple on our planet. Body is just for some time. Maintain proper hygiene. Wear nice colours. Be in gratitude to it. Feel happy and beautiful.
See how beautiful Mother looks.
Do Not Deprive Yourself
Leaving all and depriving ourselves from everything has not given anyone super strong connection with source energy, as per my experience in my journey. We don’t need to leave anything outside. Infact, when we leave things outside then it becomes visible infront of the world and sometimes this gives more of ego or a superior feeling. We neither need to feel superior nor inferior to any other.
We need to leave many things inside like our ego, our holdings, our controlling nature, jealousies, anger, cunningness etc. let it all go. These mental low vibes are the demons.
Grounded and Ordinary Life
Live a grounded and ordinary life. There is nothing to prove anybody. Walk your path in love and gratitude. when we are happy our prana expands, and we feel one with
the whole existence. When you feel so much love in yourself then the overflow of this will reach to all unconditionally. Do not think who deserves or who do not deserve. Give to the whole existence – Plants, animals, and humans. When we are full then we like sharing with everybody from our overflow. We like others being happy.
The biggest need after food is love. Glow in your light. Only in light you will be able to share with all, never in darkness.
Killing Self to Kill Ego
In order to kill their ego so many people kill their Self.
They leave artha (money) instead of leaving greed. So many times, this gives hardships. They stop taking care of their bodies go in complete lack and they think as much as they will happily live in lack that much, they are spiritual.
The fact is Vairagya means nothing owns you. No monkey is in our head. Nothing holds us. The free flow of energy and we experience complete mental freedom, joy, and peace.
Invoke Shakti During Navratra
Real Spiritual connection is abundance inside and outside.
This happens when we accept ourselves without any outside conditions and love our beings to that level that we are comfortable in our beings. This deep peace expands our Prana. Our light shines and we can navigate on this planet with grace and gratitude.
This is invoking Shakti inside us. This is going in Self and going in deep self-acceptance. Accepting whole of you. When we try to fit ourselves in idealistic images which we are not then this drains our energy as we are trying to become what we are not. As this is untrue so how power with be generated when it is not true. It is like leaving our original light and trying to become some other light. We ourselves are also magnificent as we are also God’s wonderful creation.
We need to dive inside ourselves and accept every aspect of us. The full acceptance as it is. Accept as mother accepts her little child. Only with complete acceptance shift
This acceptance gives deep peace.
Peace is converted into Power. As much the peace is there that much the power is there.
So, we need to go in deep peace by dropping our holdings, our rigidness, our controls on others, dropping our expectations, ego etc.
Left over will be Self. The divine Self. This is DEVI SWAROOP. This is invoking Shakti by killing MAHISHASUR who is a symbolic form of our ego, holdings, expectations etc. So, killing means dropping or letting it go.
Hold this Devi swaroop peaceful feeling for some time and you will observe this peace is transformed into power. THIS IS INVOKING SHAKTI.
So, this is inside journey. We don’t need to do anything outside. Whosever has experienced it they have experienced it inside not outside.
I am giving some simple rituals. If you wish you can add them in your prayers during Navratra:
- It is believed that Goddess loves cleanliness, decoration, and fragrance.
- So clean the temple. Offer beautiful veil to her with shringar items. Offer pan patta with cloves, beetle nut and green cardamom.
- Offer roli, moli, vermillion, honey, rose water, fragrant flowers and prasad of dry fruits. Light diya and guggal.
- You can chant any devi mantra or arti or Durga Saptashati.
- Many people keep fasts but during those days they eat more of fried and heavy food. This makes our prana heavy, so more lethargy is experienced. The food is with lot of heat so people who are with pitta prakriti they might experience anger, so you need to make a balanced diet chart as this is sadhna time. Include lot of chhaas, herbal tea, fresh fruits, mint and loads of water. This will balance the heat of other items. So, prana will be light and sadhna will be easy.
I hope this helps.
Wishing you Happy Navratra and may we all invoke Shakti inside us during these auspicious days.
