Reading time : 5 mins – ( Janmashtami prayers, rituals , symbolic meanings and lots of love and blessings)
The sound of bells and conch of Janmashtami will be all over India on 30th Aug’ 21. Krishna symbolizes Ananda – Joy. Joy of living life on this planet.
On this physical journey, so many times we lose our energy. Different people have explained different ways to pull up our energy levels. As per me, prayers are the best method which holds us, when we loose ourselves due to outside forces.
Too much of intelligence will find this path difficult because here the first step is to surrender. Moreover, prayer require innocence and an ocean of love in heart and not too rational mind. To become Meera we need to have love in ourselves not analytical mind.
It is a feeling of giving our self completely in HIS hands and feeling that all will be taken care of. It is letting go of self. Furthermore, it is just like flowing with the flow like water, with the faith wherever he is taking us is the best. This has its beauty, significance and power. Faith and Miracles go hand in hand.
Maybe these special days of festivals were created for celebration and joy, or else life would have been so monotonous. Festivals add colors to life. They give some special moments, which are remembered year after year and become a topic of discussions in our family cozy times. I miss my childhood time, when with my parents, I used to go to every nearby temple to see the decorations. It was fun and excitement. The same light decoration was giving the same excitement every year.
- I am giving some simple prayers and rituals which you can do on Janmashtami, if you wish:
- Clean and decorate your temple with new clothes, flowers and Tulsi etc. Tulsi is believed to be Krishna’s favorite.
- If you have Krishna idol or Laddu Gopal in your house, then you can do Abhishekam. This is a holy bath given to idols with the mixture of gangajal, milk, curd, ghee, honey. If possible, add some Tulsi leaves and Rose petals in this mixture. You can offer beautiful new clothes to the idol and place them beautifully.
- If possible, You can offer Vaijyenti Mala. This you will easily get from any puja shop.
- Offer chandan and kesar tilak and offer prasad, diya and good chandan fragrance.
- Lot of people keep fast. Fasting is done till 12 o’clock, which is believed to be birth time of Krishna.
- You can observe fasting as per your choice.
- You can do Nirjala fast, in which the strict discipline of no food and no water is observed till midnight, 12 O’clock. Second is phalahar, in which dairy, fruits and water are consumed during the day and third way is very much similar to navratri Fasting.
- During the day all Krishna prayers, Bhagwat Gita recitation or simple
“SHRI KRISHNA SHARNAM MAMAH” can be chanted.
- At 12 O’clock, Krishna birth is celebrated. Dhaniya panjeeri is offered to the lord and mantras and devotional songs are sung everywhere.
Krishna was the one who was not a follower of traditions. Infact, he was the one who broke every limiting belief. He broke everyone’s non serving belief systems whether it was Govardhan story or his getting married with Rukmini. There are several examples where he broke non serving belief systems.
Non serving belief systems keeps the person mentally in prison throughout life. My next workshop RE- BLOOM is about chipping off all that which we are not and shining brightly in our light. Details are given below.
Only one thing could win Krishna, and that is love. Please do not count the rituals and do. Go beyond this. Offering simple Tulsi patra will also win Him. If not that, then offering Self will show you the miracle.
He is the best example of Self Love. He was not only happy with reasons, but he portrayed how to be happy without reasons also.
How beautifully he used to get engrossed in playing his flute in Vrindavan? His image of playing flute with closed eyes is as if he is drinking divine nectar inside himself.
His aura which was all over was not only making simple gopis or villagers fall in love with him but animals, birds and plants were also experiencing trance of deep love in themselves with him. The whole creation was illuminated. Even visualization of this is so beautiful and relaxing.
When a person falls in love with himself, then it is like becoming one with the highest Consciousness. It is like being one with light and illuminating all over like a Sun. This person becomes life force for many without even him knowing about it. Anybody who recognizes about this light, or understands it, cannot stop himself from coming near him. Then, how could whole Vrindavan stop themselves from dancing on Krishna’s flute tune. His presence healed all.
Krishna always symbolizes Joy, Peace and Celebration in life. That is the message for us. The person who is in Joy and peace in himself will always radiate the same for others. He accepted and enjoyed all the colors of life graciously.
He was in leela – Being in leela is when we are connected to our huge energy self and operate from the whole of 100% Consciousness rather than only 20% physical identity, which is called getting stuck in Maya. Our real self is much more huge than only our physical self. Self Love is connecting to the whole of it.
How beautifuly he was flowing in life inspite of having adversities all around throughout the path?
Person who is always in comparison with others only operates from 20% physical identity. This identification limits our energy to a great extend. This comparison will always make him stand in lack. He will always get “not enough” feeling and this will make him do injustice to others to get more and more. They victimize themselves and do more harm to others. How much violence they do to themselves and reflect the same in the society. How can anyone feel settled in themselves if he is full of complaints, anger, irritation, resentment and jealousy. This was symbolized by Duryodhana.
How much blessed are those who dance, sing, celebrate and walk on their life path. How much fortunate are those who understand Self Love and experience the highest ecstacy of falling in love with Self and then rising above all. How much grace is on them.
How beautiful ! my Lord, you are. What my words can explain. You are beyond words. You can only be felt. I bow down at your lotus feet.
Let us celebrate Krishna Janmashtami in being happy in ourselves. Dance, sing and be in Ananda. Be Krishna. Be vibrating Joy. Be in gratitude. Be in faith. All will be taken care of, on its own.
In advance, I wish you and your whole family a very Happy Janmashtami. May we become beautiful as Krishna, and we are showered with HIS Divine grace forever.
